we spent a bit of time in the mountains last night, on the eve of the autumnal equinox. the crisp air, the sounds and smells of the woods, the colorful trees in the distance, the hills and valleys rolling on forever, it is healing to the wounded soul.

five years ago when i lived in logan, i would drive up the canyon and go on three or four mile runs all alone with the setting sun and the earth and the trees. last night, as we were pedaling through the woods on our bicycles i was reminded of that time in my life and realized that the mountains are a gift from heaven to humankind. they are a special kind of medicine that i'm determined to treasure.

I could never live in a place without mountains. Utah has spoiled me.
